Kitchen waste facing the constraints of collection at the source.

Our organic kitchen waste represents almost one third of our household waste.
They are smelly and bulky.

Yet this waste produced every day could be very useful to society if it were recycled and upgraded. Many companies and communities say that the most viable solution is direct collection at home.

To achieve this, it remains an obstacle to overcome: How to stop the very rapid natural degradation of this waste which produces a release of unpleasant odor ?

Turning your waste into hope ... with dehydration

By extracting the water from the organic waste, the rotting phenomenon stops instantly, the odors are neutralized and the weight decreases. From then on it becomes possible to store, transport and also to pool these materials. Dehydrated, these garbage are instantly transformed into resources and open the field to the development of various recycling streams from gasification (biogas) to produce and offer a solution for energy storage from biomass, or produce fertilizer or compost, or even generate bio-materials.
Dehydration of organic waste at the source transforms these substances into resources that make possible new alternatives.

DIY: How to make a DB 1.0 dehydrator yourself ?

To build a DB1.0 you will need materials, tools and digital files.
You will find below a mode of assembly, of use as well as the files necessary to:

- the cutting of the wooden pieces by a laser cutter,
- 3D printing of PLA biodegradable polymer parts
- and the Arduino Nano microprocessor programming code that manages the delay of the fan and the drum motor.

This project is entirely free of rights (under License Creative Common), so you can modify it, improve it, adapt it to your needs
and also market it provided that you cite the author (Dominique BARRIERE-France) and keep him informed of developments that you will make to this email : opensourcedb1.x@gmail.com.
